Arizona Campervan Rental
Boho Campervans
For this trip we rented a campervan with Boho Campervans out of Pheonix.
Not having any camping experience (like at all, eek) I did a lot of research ahead of time on normal pricing, supplies, etc and Boho was a perfect fit.
We rode out in their “Joplin” van – small enough to feel like driving a normal car, but big enough to feel comfortable inside.
Plus the guys who own the company are super friendly and laid-back. They even gave us a personalized van tour before we hit the road – complete with a mini lesson on how to cook, shower, and relax in the camper!
So much better than renting from a huge van company where you don’t know who to call for questions or advice!
packing list
You already know that I love to plan ahead, especially when it comes to essentials for any trip. So with this epic adventure it was no different.
I was really concerned with being in the middle-of-nowhere and not having access to a store, so I did bring a few campervan essentials with me for the road.
But, of course, it turns out that our Joplin van was already decked out with things to make us comfortable.
This included:
- camping eating set (plates, bowls, cups, utensils, etc)
- stuff to do dishes with
- bedroom mood lighting – who knew!?
- and even little clips to keep the window curtains shut

IT ONLY TAKES 5 SECONDS!
1st stop : sedona
Driving Time: It took us around 2 hours to drive from Pheonix to Sedona,.
Where we stayed: We actually ended up booking a campsite at the Dead Horse Ranch State Park for about $20 which was perfect since everything else inside Sedona is way more expensive and dispersed camping is off limit in most places.
Things to do:
- Hiking – lots of hiking – we hiked Cathedral Rock and Devil’s Bridge
- Shopping
- Spa treatments & golfing
- Art classes
- Jeep & helicopter tours
2nd stop : grand canyon
Driving Time: It took us around 2 and a half hours to drive from Sedona to the area right outside of The Grand Canyon South Rim.
Where we stayed: We ended up “boonedocking” – better known as dispersed camping – in a site off of FR 688 closed to the Grand Canyon National Park airport.
If you’ve never heard of dispersed camping before – basically it means you pull over at one of the designated campsites on public land and camp there for free.
Finding one of these campsites can be tricky, but we used an app called Free Roam which really helped.
Things to do:
- The Grand Canyon Village
- Hiking the Grand Canyon
- Helicopter tours
- Rafting on the Colorado River
3rd stop : Page, arizona
Driving Time: It took us about 1 and a half hours to get from the Grand Canyon South Rim to Page.
Where we stayed: Sadly, we didn’t end up staying in Page since we drove on to our next stop right before sunset – but if you have the time I would definitely recommend staying in Page for a bit because there are so many things to do there!
Things to do:
- Glen Canyon National Park & Horseshoe Bend
- Kayak & boat rentals on Lake Powell
- Swimming at The Chains
- Antelope Canyon & other slot canyons
One of my favorite parts of Page was swimming at The Chains – especially in the mid-summer heat!
4th stop : monument valley
Driving Time: It took us about 2 and a half hours to get from the Page to Monument Valley.
Where we stayed: The View Campground – which literally makes for the perfect view of Monument Valley at Sunrise!
Things to do:
- Watch the sunrise or sunset
- Explore the museum, hotel, and gift shop
- Hiking & horseback riding
- Drive the Monument Valley Loop
