How to Spend 48 Hours in Seville

Seville is one of our favorite places to spend a lazy weekend.

And while strolling around the sleepy Sevilla alleys would be just as good a time, there are so many more thing to do in Seville that that.

Here’s how we spent our 48 hours in Seville!

Day 1

Day 1 - morning

Have breakfast at Casa Moreno – a cute local spot – and known for having inexpensive food, it’s within walking distance of so many other things to do!

After breakfast , head over to the Catedral de Sevilla, only a few streets over from Casa Moreno.

This ancient cathedral is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest cathedral in the world! It is the final resting place to several of history’s great figures, including Christopher Columbus and his son. And despite how you feel about him, being the final resting place for one of the most famous explorers in history is pretty amazing.

Day 1 - afternoon

In the afternoon, pay a visit to the Real Alcázar de Sevilla.

This Moorish Palace is actually one of the oldest European palaces still in use today. Take a walk around the grounds for some of the best examples of Moorish architecture on the Iberian Peninsula.

Then grab a quick bite to eat or some coffee at a small cafe on your way back. Remember that most places will shut down for the Spanish siesta, but will reopen later for dinner. Grab something to eat before they all close and head back to the hotel for a nap – just like the locals do.

But if you’re not in the mood for a snooze, this would actually be a great time to see Plaza de España since foot traffic will have died down by then!

In the later afternoon, you can head over to Parque de Maria Luisa.

This park is right in front of the Plaza de España and super hard to miss. It’s also beautiful and quite in the middle of the city. Definitely worth some time!

And when you’re relaxed enough, head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Dinner starts late and ends even later, so you’ll want to be as rested as possible!

Day 2

Day 2 - morning

Have breakfast at La Cacharreria in the city center.

Despite it’s proximity to Plaza de la Encarnación, this tiny breakfast spot is crammed packed with locals any day of the week.

Try some of their freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious cafe con leche, and a few of their tostadas. We promise you won’t regret it.

Because despite being tiny, and having to wait, it’s definitely one of the best breakfasts in the city. Of course everything sounded so good and we ordered way too much food, but don’t worry, you’ll get to walk in off today!

After a leisurely breakfast we walked the 2 mins to Metropol Parasol, a large wooden mushroom-shaped structure in the Plaza de la Encarnación.

Sounds funky, right? It is.

You can go down to the underground floor to get a glimpse of the Roman and Moorish remains that were originally in that land when they started building it, or go up to the 2nd and 3rd levels for an awesome view.

Day 2 - afternoon

Head over to the Feria Market for lunch and enjoy a collection of drink and food stalls with a main center island serving the food.

The best part is that the tapas are between 3-4 euros each, including a glass of wine!

Take your time there and people-watch until they start closing for the afternoon.

By this time, a nap may be sounding good – head back to rest up for a bit before heading out for dinner!

We decided to just head out with no plans for our second day – which ended up being the perfect plan after all.

We got a chance to wander around without heading somewhere specific and had a glass of wine on the terrace of a little street cafe.

People-watching is one of our favorite activities!

Finish up the night with a flamenco show at Casa de la Memoria! No trip to Seville is complete without one!

The show lets out right in time for a late dinner, and we ended up at the La Sacristía Bar on Calle Mateos Gago, only 3 mins walk from our hotel and perfect since we didn’t get back in ’til about 2 am.

Even after having 1/2 a pitch of wine and 6 tapas we only spent 30 euro!

After this, it was time to get some rest and head out in the morning!

We stayed at the Hotel Alfonso Rey X, which was the perfect location for everything we mentioned above! Check it out, or pop into our Where to Stay in Seville list for more great ideas!
